Time Starved Chef
If you’re a time starved chef – or even if you’re just starving – a halogen oven is absolutely ideal for you. The combination of infrared and convection heating means that you can cook meals super fast – up to three times faster than a normal oven.
Of course, you can heat things up fast in a microwave – but there’s a difference between cooking something fast and heating it up fast. You’ll also be able to cook many types of food in your halogen oven that you wouldn’t normally dream of putting in the microwave.
There’s no need to worry about how long something has been in, the oven will switch itself off when it’s done.
If you’re trying new things, and, of course, everything’s a new thing when you’re learning, being able to see your food cooking (nicely) through the side of the glass bowl without having to open the oven and modify the temperature is a real plus point. When you’re done cooking and eating, cleaning up is just as easy. All that you have to do is add a little water and detergent and select the self clean setting – or just pop the bowl right into your dishwasher. There’s certainly no need to get out a collection of cleaning chemicals and start scrubbing (and inhaling fumes).
Your halogen oven can bake, broil, air fry, steam and generally cook just about any dish that you can think of – and a few that you have yet to learn about probably.

Max power for these ovens is typically somewhere between 1200 – 1400 W, although you won’t often use that much energy as you won’t use the maximum temperature setting very often. A standard oven will have a max power of around 3500 W – so less power and faster cooking time means a lot less energy used. It will depend on your existing oven and your style of cooking to some extent, but a saving in energy usage of around about 75% should be fairly typical.
And of course, being energy-efficient is environmentally friendly. Come to think of it, you’re not being tight-fisted – you’re an eco warrior!
