Fagor’s 12 quart halogen oven comes in black or red (no white, somewhat unusually) and is a great addition to any kitchen.
As you can see from the picture, it is small enough to fit on top of your kitchen counter – but large enough, with the extender ring fitted, to let you roast a 16 pound turkey.
External dimensions are 15 x 15 x 10.2 inches and it weighs about 18 pounds. The large glass bowl, which serves as the “oven” is light enough for you to remove it for cleaning in your sink or dishwasher. The bowl is dishwasher safe of course.
The bowl capacity is 12 quarts (11.4 liters) without the extender ring and 17 quarts (16 liters) with the stainless steel extension ring fitted.
As with most halogen ovens, the Fagor is extremely versatile. You can bake, roast, steam, broil, fry and dehydrate your food. It will cope with just about anything from roast beef and chicken to muffins and cookies!
It will do anything that a standard oven can do – but faster. In fact, it’s up to three times faster than a conventional oven (depending upon the type of food being cooked).
The 1300W rated oven uses halogen, infrared and convection heating, combined with an in-built fan which circulates air inside the oven, to cook food quickly, evenly and efficiently. As well as being fast, it cooks food in its own juice. You will use less oil and get healthy, tasty meals done to perfection.
Likewise it will do anything that a microwave can do – but better. It will also do a great deal that microwaves can’t. Try getting a nice, golden roast chicken in a microwave oven!
And if you just want to use your halogen oven for heating things up (which is all that most people do with their microwaves), that’s fine too. You can defrost food, cook pizza and heat up ready meals just the same as you would in a microwave – without having to worry about any foil trays or wrapping!
As well as being fast, the Fagor is very easy to use. The controls, mounted in the lid, are very simple and easy to understand and use. Just choose the desired temperature and set the timer and you’re good to go. The oven heats up instantly – there’s no need to wait for it to reach temperature.
The oven will only operate when the handle is fully depressed. As a safety feature, as soon as you lift the handle to remove the lid, the power to both the heater and fan is cut.
And the simplicity of use and convenience doesn’t stop when your meal is cooked. The Fagor oven has a “self clean” facility. Simply add a couple of inches of cool water and detergent (just a squirt – you won’t need a lot) to the oven once it has cooled down and then set it on the cleaning mode.
Set the timer to somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes, depending on how dirty it is, and let it clean itself. The halogen heater will heat the water and the fan will agitate it so that the detergent mixes with the water and any surface dirt and grease is removed more easily.
As if all that wasn’t enough, because the Fagor oven has a small volume and efficient heat distribution, it will use less energy than a standard oven when preparing your food. You’ll save time and money – and you’ll get perfectly cooked meals.
